Things just arent the way they used to be…

I’m sure you have heard the phrase many times ‘Things just aren’t the way they used to be…’, these words have been spoken by many voices not limited by age, we spent the weekend looking through many childhood photos, some rather embarrassing photos, but the less said about those the better, but people were happy, content and satisfied, the cry was not always for more, people had flowery carpet, walls were dressed with fruit bowl wallpaper and people wore clothes that looked biblical, and hair styles……! everything looked old age but life was good, people were authentic and happy.

Change can be difficult, in the past we can look back and review the paths taken and think that was a good choice, or that was a big mistake, but looking ahead can be uncertain, create feelings of nervousness, and insecurity, famous preachers will tell us to cling to Christ Jesus and all will be rosy, and while the theory of that may be true, the reality is not always as simple.

In life we will face decisions every day, but we need to make careful decisions, not quick fixes, little decisions added together made incorrectly will create a massive mess, that could knock you completely off course.
We have to remember we have to surround ourselves with people who care, support and love us, Family is a key, but not everyone can relate to good family relations, Church family is another key and i know some again have not good relations or possibly rejection issues in that area, but everyone is capable of making friends, good lifelong friends, low maintenance friendships that are strong and help create a safe environment to bare you deepest struggles and receive the encouragement and support without feeling judged, that’s the measuring stick for a true friendship and if we surround ourselves with these people we can face the future with our heads held high, focused on God knowing we are not alone!
Things may not be the way they used to be, but lets look forward and step into Gods plans for our lives, knowing that the best for us is always ahead of us, (heaven after all is the homeland of every believer!)

Don’t hit snooze anymore!

I’m sure many times you like me have hit the snooze button on your alarm clock when your just not ready for the start of a new day, in my life I’ve had many instances were I feel i’ve done this with God, you hear His voice but can’t find the energy or enthusiasm to respond/obey Him. It’s seems easier to stay in the safe place your in, instead of making advancements towards new ground.

As I buried my grandpa this weekend His legacy has challenged me to the core, he didn’t wait to ride a big wave, but rather lived a life constantly rolling His sleeves up to serve others, put others first, He always did what he knew to be right regardless if it made him look daft, in his 84 years many times over he responsed to Gods voice through many acts of kindness and acts of love.

I’m to easily distracted, side tracked, and am seeing a move of God in my life at the minute that is shaking me up and giving me a new focus and an underlined purpose but as I said the snooze button is always the easy way out, it’s time I learned to respond quicker to Gods voice, it’s a process, I’ve a long way to Go, but I know with my life surrendered to God I’ll get closer to that goal a lot quicker.

Let’s be samuels who hear and respond to Gods voice and follow His direction and purpose in our lives

Robert Albert Heak (Grandpa)

Robert Albert Heak (Grandpa)

A good listener, deep thinker, A man full of wisdom, Grandpa always had time, Was never in a rush, The job was always done to perfection, And to the finest of detail, He never wanted recognition, Always praised others, A great encourager to all He encountered

‘Treat others better than yourself’ he always said, a man who not only loved His God, but His wife, family and the many friends and neighbours who had the pleasure of meeting him during a life that was lived to the full.

‘Follow your dreams, use your talents and become who God created you to be’, Grandpa wasn’t selfish, if you showed an interest, Grandpa shared and taught all he knew, because he wanted you to reach your dreams and accomplish every task.

You’ve been a great Friend and inspiration to me, thankyou for loving, caring, encouraging and most of all for the time you invested in my life.

I will miss you, til we meet again!

Good Friday Fix

So today is one of those calender days that many cling to their religious skeletons to remember Jesus dying on the Cross, many churches will see a slight increase in attendance this weekend as many come out for their annual religious fix and on sunday remember Christ – The Risen Saviour!

The cross of Jesus is one that is hard to carry, although the one Jesus carried himself can never be compared to the challenges we face as His ambassators on this earth, saying your a christian and living a life sold out to Gods purposes and desires is a pretty hard road at times, life and stuff constantly tangle us up, making life complicated and relationship with God tougher.

This past few months have been tough, but Im still here, business pressures and the stress that has come with that have made my focus a little blurred, but I can still see God at work around me and I’m looking forward to getting the lens cleaned with a few days off over Easter with Amy, Kids and God of course.

This Easter as we eat chocolate eggs, roll painted ones and spend time with the Kids lets remember how these events like Easter and christmas only exist because of a saviour who came to the world to give us Love and Life and the opportunity to share eternity with Him, Lets give Him the time, honour, praise and Glory that He is due this Easter.
