On with the New
Happy New year to everyone! Crazy to believe that this year is start of a new decade since the millennium, how much has changed in those 10 fast years!
Yesterday was day1 of 365 that make up 2010, for all of you who made those ‘Resolutions’ for this year my question is simple, what did you do yesterday to help make those New Year promises come closer to becoming reality?
There are a few things that life has taught me about change,
-Making small changes on a constant basis makes Big changes easier to accomplish.
Lets face it we all complain about being a little overweight… OK most women do, but next time you pick up a wispa gold or mars bar when you filling your car with diesel, ask yourself … do i need this??? Making a string of changes like this will probably see you get to a healthier weight without the need to visit a gym or walk round a park …. although that will speed up the process.
Being a christian for many years, its been an observation every new year how the Christian resolution on January 1st every year is to ‘get close to God, to read His word, Pray more and do more good exploits for God’ – that’s Great………. but its the same resolution every year, we are all pretty transparent, people see change, they see us grow in God or fade away from Him, and this is not about what others see, but lets not make false promises to ourselves, promise to study a book in depth in Gods word this year instead of cramming verses in that you don’t understand and lets be honest, if we spend our lives glancing through Genesis to Revelation, how are we ever going to get to know more of the Character of God who wrote the Logos Word.
God doesn’t want to see the stats page for verses read in a year, He is more keen to see the words of His book imprinted in your heart and lived out in your life.
- Change is easier said than done
Don’t think much needs said about this, change is tough, new regimes, new lifestyles, new priorities, new concerns, new dreams, new hopes, new desires, new visons, new purposes, the list is endless, moving your life through the process of change can be high pressured, stressful, but guys this is your life, if you want to be someone your not at this moment of time, change much be faced head on.
- Change must never stop
Life is dull for those who sit back and do little, if we want adventure, if we want to reach goals if we want to realise and live in Gods calling for our lives then change must never stop, the challenge to pursue God and life must never be put on the shelf. We must run the race of life until our dying breath, a couple of mates johnny and steve have a moto for their lives and i love it, and i’ll finish the post with it:
‘Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving with an attractive and well preserved body, rather to skid in sideways, covered in scars, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming YAHOO what a ride!!’
