Isaiah 40
Isaiah 40 is one of those crown Jewel passages in the Bible, full of the greatness, strength and imprinted with a little flavour of Gods Power and Awesomeness. When I read from verse 28-31 it starts the engine inside me, its like getting ready to take off on a plane journey, a journey of new things, new discoveries in God.
September has hit us with a bang this year, this time thing is scary, weeks pass like days now, I always remember my parents and grandparents used to say how time seems to go faster as you get older – How true!, the pressures in life seem to apply to much pressure to the accelerator of life. Here are those verses taken from my NIV Devotional Bible…
The Lord is the everlasting God, the creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He Gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope on the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint!
I pray this morning that You and I place all our Hope in the Lord, our Creator, Redeemer, Encourager and Friend!

Hi Phil
I was just checking out the Church web page for updates when I ventured into the uncharted waters of the church blogs, a place that reminds me a little of what they use to say on star trek (where no man has gone before).
When I spotted a link to yours and I was thrilled to read your 4th of September blog about Isaiah 40 it has been on my heart for about a week now and had it thrust into my mind last Sunday by God and I revisited that chapter again with open eyes and expectant heart. My favourite part has to be 3-5 a voice of one calling:
In the desert prepare the way for the Lord; then it goes on to say that we are to make straight in the wilderness a highway for our God. The Septuagint says “make straight the paths for our God”.
That makes me think of the pathfinder regiments of the army and the pioneer core. These guys move on ahead of the main force doing the reconnaissance checking the ground for mantraps and bridging ditches. They are seldom given awards for bravery, never looked on as glamorous as are the Spearhead regiments.
Without them to prepare the way the Spearhead would never find its target and the battle would not be won. He is on his way, soon to be revealed to all mankind. The voice of the Lord has spoken.
Yours Colin Wylie
