Something that seems to be always in the back of my mind is the question, ‘How is my life reflecting God?’ In what ways can I truly say that I have been set apart from this world? Forgive me for saying this but I have noticed that christian morality nowadays is marked on three criteria. If you commit any or all of these offences you are a sinner and will never get into heaven (So I’m led to believe)
1)Drunkenness (Drunkenness is a Sin)
2)Smoking / Drugs (Addictions are Sinful)
3)Sex outside of marriage (No doubt that this is Sin)
But believe it or not the Bible talks much more about other types of sin, (that doesn’t mean its ok to do the three above) for me if something is mentioned 20 times in the Bible it is mentioned 20 times because its 20 times more important that something mentioned once? I think that’s fair! (Or maybe I’m just simple minded)
“But anyone who believes that something he wants to do is wrong shouldn’t do it. He sins if he does, for he thinks it is wrong, and so for him it is wrong. Anything that is done apart from what he feels is right is sin.” – Romans 14:23
“But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.” – Matthew 5:28
“What comes out of a man, that defiles a man. For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornication’s, murders, thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lewdness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness. All these evil things come from within and defile a man.” – Mark 7:20-23
Just a few Bible examples of Sin, you see we live in an age were the focus is on public sin, but private or secret sin is given free reign.
When we talk about knowing right from wrong, we all have a consciousness, we need to listen to God as we go about our lives as He speaks through His Holy spirit, and Obey what is right.
“Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin.” – James 4:17
My prayer today is that you have Set yourself Apart as a Believer from the Sin of this world and Live a life that reflects Gods Beauty and Power!
I like many have watched with interest the news over the past month as England has been hits with one of the worst weather systems ever to hit it, I’ve been asked the famous one liner “I thought God said there would never be floods again?”
God promised that the earth and everything living on it would never again be destroyed by a flood. Genesis 5: 28 – 9: 17, but He never said regions would never again be covered by floods. Anyway why does God get blamed when things go wrong yet when Things go right He never gets a mention?
When God made this world it was sinless, perfect and beautiful, Now its full of sin, nowhere near perfect and only parts of it remain beautiful. Sin has not only entered mankind but also the earth, so when we see floods, volcanoes, earthquakes, Tsunamis, tornadoes, drought, famine, these are not things that God allows but rather it is man in his sin, search for wealth and greed that has created this Global warming problem.
My problem with evolutionists is simple, if God didn’t create the world, why can’t man fix it? Why can’t man stop volcanoes, floods, earthquakes, or close the hole in the ozone layer etc, because while they try to be as clever as God they fall billions of miles short, people just can’t accept that there is a God that He is real, people don’t want to surrender to a higher power, because they think they are No.1, but when you breathe your last breath its to late to realise you’ve lived a wasted life, without realising your true potential and securing your eternal destiny.
If anyone reading this thinks I have no heart for those hit by the floods, I will be honest and say I‘ve cried many tears for the many families who lives have been ruined beyond repair, losing family members in the floods, losing all their earthly possessions, but in this all I just pray they find God and let him transform their lives! God Tells us to Hate sin, but love the sinners so let us practise that by doing what we can with ‘whats in our hand’ to help those who need help.
