I was made aware this morning that the average Evangelical Christian spends just 4 minutes a day in prayer. I know we live in a Busy world, but is it really so busy to only give God so little of our time? when we pray what do we pray for? I mean if we are asking God for a list of stuff for us, I can understand why it would take so little time, but is our pray time not about asking God for Salvation of our friends and families, Healing and Release for those who aren’t well, If all our prayers are for material things then there is something wrong!
My advice to anyone struggling in prayer, is to bring EVERYTHING before God, Not just your needs, but more your dreams, passions, worries, fears, inadequacies, plans, decisions, relationships, emptiness, friends, your job, career etc - These are the things people will remember you for, God is interested in everything about You. Not everything you own! Today lets seek First Gods Kingdom, Why not try a one minute prayer, every hour, when you discipline your prayer life, there will come a time when you don’t even think about praying, you will just find yourself praying! – Remember we are in training for reigning – so we should maybe get to know our King before we spend an eternity with him.
Do you ever think how amazing it is that God has chosen us, His People, the Church to carry His Presence everywhere we go? I mean we can get into some rare situations in life and Yet God is there because we are, well as long as you allow God to be there with you, Christ in us is something that will always fascinate my thinking, He Dwells within us, He Inclines his ear to hear us, He Draws Near to us when we call His name, He Leads us – So lets just be obedient and follow Him in word and action! Try to get a few moments today to be Close to Him, He Longs for that with His People!
This is the Week many call ‘Holy Week’ as they remember the journey Jesus Went on in His last week before the Crucifixion. Palm Sunday Seen a triumphant entry into the city, but on the Friday afternoon of the that week, the Same people had Put Jesus on a Cross – Well I mean their sin had put Him there. For Me I Love reading the Obedience of Jesus to His Father, when He prayed ‘Not my will, but thine be done’ We all Need to get to a point of praying that for every decision in Life. Its sometimes so easy to rush into things forgetting to seek Gods Will, I’m Not talking about Asking God what you should order when at the McDonalds till – although if you did ask that you may not get the answer you would want?
This week in the hustle and bustle of Life try to think back a little to the Sufferings Jesus went through for Your Sin, if it means using the passion, or Jesus of Nazareth DVDs to help you then watch them, I had the awesome privilege of walking along the trail Jesus Walked on His way to the Calvary, and man was it emotional! Knowing that the things shown in the films are a fraction of what really happened, knowing why Jesus went through it all, and yet He didn’t fight back once to stop it, He could have called armies of angels, but He Knew He was the only Hope for a Sinful world, the only perfect sacrifice that could be offered to God! to rescue man from his sin. I’m not trying to make you think you need to be emotional about this, but when I think that Jesus went through the most horrific death mankind has ever witnessed for my Sin, I am in awe, shock and emotionally overwhelmed that Jesus Did that for me and everyone else that has lived, living and yet to live.
I hear the line ‘Jesus is the Reason for the Season’ at Christmas time, The Same can be said about Jesus and Easter, No Empty Tomb on Easter Sunday, and Cadburys would never have made as much money at this time of the Year. I hope this year that you find a new dimension in your communion with Christ as you ponder the reality of Easter and its True meaning and Reason.
I am so thankful for Jesus for His sufferings and Sacrifice and Resurrection, Because in Him Saving me from my sin He has given me an eternal security that No money Could buy – but that all can Have – FREELY!
