Nearing the end of 2006

How nice its been to chill with family over christmas, not to mention friends as well. 2006 has been a year of many peaks and also many valleys, some deeper than I ever imagined could happen, But God has been there though it all, giving hope, strength, love, when needed, assurance that He is in control and Grace to help me realise How Well I am looked after by Him even through the storms of life.

You know in years gone by, I’ve made many ‘resolutions’ only to be broken, this year I’ve learned one major thing, i can’t do life without God! So instead of a resolution this year I’m making a commitment to cling to God in the things I previously did on my own strength, circumstances in 2006 have highlighted the ‘important‘ things in life, If I was to speak a word of wisdom for 2007, its short, but when done right in every area and arena of live it is very beautiful.

Love

In 2006 i’ve learned that:

  • Real men cry
  • God will bring beauty from Ashes
  • Anonomous people don’t count
  • Love is action, not words
  • its worth everything to invest time in my family
  • my friends are the best I could wish for
  • God can use me to do His will
  • materialism has the potential to ruin every western christian

I’m excited about 2007, for many reasons, God willing I will be 25 this year, so my car insurance will drop a little, I will be married 5 years, One of my closest Friends gets married in April, I know where we plan to holiday, and I Know that God will have many suprises in the Daily duties of life and in every page of scripture!

And hopefully there will be Snow!

God bless You & your Family in 2007!

A Magical World…

Last weekend Amy & myself had the opportunity to go to Disneyland, Paris for a weekend with the Kids, along with Amys Family. What an atmosphere of excitment and expectation as we walked along Main street USA, they even had fake snow falling every half hour because in Disney if its not happening then they make it happen!

As I watched families, kids, friends all from different walks of life, differnet races, different skin colours and different languages all have fun together, all smile at eachother all get on. I couldn’t help but ask myself how does Disney create such a peacful, fun and energetic atmosphere, This is gonna sound corny but sure its the truth, I thought of the words of Jesus ‘Unless You become like a child’

[Before I go on I am not about to compare Disneyland to Heaven, because it wouldn't even be a glimpse of Heaven]

I’ve read many books, writeups, articles etc about heaven, Its a place that if we are honest is way beyond our imagination, its a place that brings excitement to some and a little fear to others. But as I watched everyone get on at Disney it was hard not to think about how one day in Glory we will live in peace and harmony. I have to say Disney at times it felt a little like the stettford wives – {a little fake / robotic}

I know Sin has polluted this world right from the core of earth, but why is it so hard to be nice to people, why is it so hard to accept people, why is it so hard not to judge people, why do we always have to have the last word?

I remember reading a book called ‘training for reigning’, well if we are down here to train that means that believers need to start spreading Kindness, Love and Hope into our community, people now are shocked when they are given something for free with no strings attached, Kindness is not discount, its not a half measure, its going the full Hogg and it doesn’t have a get out clause!

Lets try to bring a little Kingdom influence to our community! This must start in our own neighbourhood, not in Africa!

The Reason for Living

Here we are 4 days from another Christmas day, and the annual debate has kicked off, What is Christmas all about? Jesus or santa? Nativity or Presents? Carol Services or Food & Drink Parties? I’ve come to the conclusion at my young age that Christmas is Just a big excuse for a big party, and rightly so, You work hard all year to deserve a couple of weeks to chill with friends and family as you get a few days off from work.

I hear people say that Jesus is the reason for the Season, Well I Guess the whole thing originated from the Fact that Jesus was born on ‘christmas day’, I’ve always watched how Cupboard Christians come out and Blast others over the Christmas period about having a bit of fun, Mostly the people getting this in the ear are Christians who Don’t have Jesus as the Reason for the Season but rather the Reason for Living.

If Christ only matters to You at Christmas, then I think I would have a right to Say that you have no right to criticise, judge or put down anyone for celebrating christmas with friends or family, Anyone in a walk with God will spend time daily with God that time is put aside because they Love God and have Him in first place in their Life, as I often say, lets look in the mirror and deeper than that in through our soul window and focus on getting ourselves sorted instead of holding back and putting down others.

This christmas don’t just let Jesus be the reason for the season but rather your Reason for Living!

Happy Christmas to You all, (I don’t plan on blogging much until the new Year!)

Good & Great!

This morning I was thinking what is it that defines a Good person from a Great Person, as I began to think of several examples of a lot of good people, then think of some great people the difference I found was not a lightening bolt or anything but rather Simple.

I think that Good people do good things on an adhoc basis, but today I’m asking is the difference that Great people go one step further and Plan to do good things as well as doing good on an Ad Hoc Basis. Not that I’m trying to get everyone into a robotic mode to think that they can be Great people cause remember Great people normally don’t see themselves as anything extra special, but the truth is that Great people make things happen, Great people change things, Great people bring hope to the hopeless, Love to the Unloved, Help to the Helpless and so on, So maybe Great shouldnt be associated with the person, but rather with what they do and have done!

So today ask yourself what can I Plan? And don’t get stuck on the plan or it will never happen!

How time Flies

Amazing to think today that My Son Ben is 3 years old, Ben has been a really Big Blessing to Amy and me and the wider family circle, the life that kids bring to a home is just amazing. Thanks be to God for three great years with ben and just over a year with Maddie, As I said to Amy last night before rolling over to sleep, Kids really are a Gift from God!

Capture every moment you can when they are young cause believe me time flies!
