Jealous is not a friend!
As we go through life we will come accross many types of people, people that we will choose to befriend or not, people we will choose to spend time with or not, people we will choose to love or not.
Some call them their angels at times but these people we choose to be with are FRIENDS. We all need these people in our lives. Unfortunately as we go through life we will have tough trials and events that will hurt us, they will nearly drive us to loneliness, Sometimes being a friend may just mean being a presence to someone in need, Sometimes words fail but Presence doesn’t!
I heard a story in the last number of days about a guy in prison who had no friends, every day during his time in jail he was lonely, but a fellow prisoner started coming to his cell, he never spoke a word to him once, but the fact that this guy took time just to sit in the same room blessed the inmate, and probably kept him from depression and definately helped him beat loneliness.
It seems stange to me that it is believers who struggle most with friendships, while yes we need to guard who are friends are, i find that many Believers are just not friendly. It seems that sometimes there is a jealous or judgemental thing that brings an end to possible friendships, or causes hurt before its to late to try to make a friendship.
When i need wisdom i look to Proverbs usually, heres one to make you sit up (man means men and women!)
Proverbs 16 v27-28 (NASB)
A worthless man digs up evil, While his words are like scorching fire. A perverse man spreads strife, And a slanderer separates intimate friends.
Proverbs 16 v27-28 (The Message)
Mean people spread mean gossip; their words smart and burn. Troublemakers start fights; gossips break up friendships.
Today what i’m saying is guard the little rudder behind your lips! Words can hurt, cause pain and usually are a summary of assumption!
As i was often told to Assume makes an ASS-(of)-U-(&)-ME!
If you’ve negative things to say about someone – check yourself, and ask someone you look to as a spiritual leader before confronting the person!
I believe negativity stems from Jealous and Judgemental Spirits!
